Management Plan
Under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act (2000), relevant local authorities have a legal duty to produce/ review an AONB management plan every five years. Once agreed, the plan formulates local authority policy in relation to the management of the area. However, the management plan is much more than just a document for local authorities. The management plan incorporates the views of a wide range of public, private and voluntary bodies and is the key document through which the AONB Partnership expresses its intentions for conserving and enhancing the special character of the area. |
The AONB Management Plan (2009-2014)The current AONB management plan was launched in April 2009 and remains valid until March 2014. It identifies the issues and challenges facing the special features of the area and contains 24 guiding principles and 46 strategic objectives which will help address them. In accordance with European regulations (2001/42EC) an environmental report has also been produced which identifies the likely impacts that may arise from the implementation of the plan. Monitoring Delivery of the AONB Management Plan The performance of the AONB Partnership in implementing the management plan is monitored on an annual basis. At the start of each financial year an action plan is produced which sets out the activities that key members of the Partnership are expected to carry out. An annual report produced at the end of the financial year then summarises the Partnership’s key achievements. Download the 2011/12 Action Plan Download the 2010/11 Annual Review |
