Tourism, Recreation and Access
![]() |
More than 1.25 million people visit the AONB every year. Management is essential, both to provide opportunities for different people to enjoy the countryside and to ensure that this enjoyment does not damage the natural beauty of the area. High quality information is one important aspect of management.
A series of Discovery Walks leaflets have been published for the AONB. The leaflets describe and promote walking routes which are able to withstand the pressure of feet, whilst also interpreting the landscape and features of interest along the way, making them more attractive to users. Many of the Discovery Walks start and finish at train stations or other locations that are easily accessible by public transport.
